BG Police cite Michigan motorist for hit skip crash

A Michigan man was arrested Wednesday around 4:20 p.m., after allegedly hitting another car and leaving the scene.

Bowling Green Police responded to the hit skip crash at North Main Street and East Poe Road. As police were talking with the motorist whose car was struck, dispatch advised that the Wood County Sheriff’s Office had stopped the other vehicle on Carter Road near East Poe Road.

BG Police talked with the Michigan driver, Richard Tesznar, 52, whose speech seemed slurred. The deputy mentioned an alcoholic beverage can was under the driver’s seat.

BGPD tried to give Tesznar sobriety tests, which he reportedly had difficulty performing. He reportedly refused to take a breath test.

Tesznar was cited for failure to allow assured clear distance, hit skip, and OVI. He was taken to the Wood County Jail.
