The Black Swamp Curling Center is celebrating its grand opening on Oct. 21, from noon-5 p.m., at 19901 N. Dixie Highway, Bowling Green.  The grand opening will feature a ribbon cutting, bagpipers, ceremonial throwing of curling rocks, refreshments and live music.  Everyone is welcome.

Curling, played with granite rocks and brooms on ice, is one of the fastest growing sports in America, and the United States has high hopes that the US curling teams will bring home medals at the PyeongChang 2018 Olympics.

“Curling is a sport that anyone can learn at any age,” says Bryan Zimmerman, club president. “The new Black Swamp Curling Center will give everyone in Northwest Ohio the chance to try curling.”

After almost 50 years of curling at the BGSU Ice Arena, the Bowling Green Curling Club has a new home at the Black Swamp Curling Center.  The Center is now the largest dedicated curling venue in Ohio with four sheets of ice, The 9th End bar and a warm lounge where visitors can watch curling through the viewing glass.

The Black Swamp Curling Center is run by the Bowling Green Curling Club, an all-volunteer 501(c)(3).  The club offers curling classes, weekly league play, youth programs and private curling rentals. New curlers are always welcome.
