Carol J. (Stump) Copley 80, of Maumee Ohio, passed away Dec 5th at Wood County Hospital after a brief illness. Known as “Nanee” to her Grandkids, she was born to William and Virginia Stump in Risingsun, Ohio in February of 1943 and went on to graduate from Gibsonburg High School.
First and foremost, Carol was a devoted Mother, and Grandmother, and enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her family. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the loves of her life, and she cherished every moment with them. Nanee spent many days and nights either watching a horse show or dance recital or on the sidelines watching volleyball, basketball, hockey, football, and baseball. She was always so proud of all of them and so proud of everyone in what she called “her little family”. Later in life, she enjoyed searching for milkweed with her great-grandkids in the summertime and watching the Monarch butterflies hatch before releasing them together.
Carol worked for many years and eventually retired from Sunshine Biscuit Co. in Fremont, Ohio, but she also shared her musical talent by teaching piano and organ to many people young and old over the years. She was always so excited to hear and speak to any of her old students who kept in contact with her.
Carol married her high school sweetheart, Fred Copley (deceased), and they are survived by their two children, Susan (George) Hubbell and Steven (Daniel), grandchildren, Michelle Mangette (Jeff), Tonya Coombe (Brad), Heather Johnson (Joe), Danielle Wasserman (Kyle), great-grandchildren Layne and Reese Mangette, Colby, Cameron, and Callahan Coombe, Adelyn and Braylyn Johnson, and Hunter, and Ava Wasserman. Carol is also survived by her chosen sister Linda Villa (Anthony) niece Toni Marie Nehls (Dale), her children Taylor (Mary) and Alexis, and her lifelong friend Dianne McVeigh of McAllen, TX. Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Ginny, her husband Fred, and nephew Michael Villa.
A private graveside service will be held for the family at a later date. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Dunn Funeral Home in Bowling Green.
