Leon Studer

Leon Studer, 87, of Bowling Green passed away September 27, 2019, at Wood Haven Health Care in Bowling Green. He was born July 26, 1932, in Whitehouse, Ohio, to Edwin and Bernice (Wilson) Studer. On November 22, 1958, Leon married Jeanette (Hummel) Studer, who preceded him in death in September 1969. On June 17, 1976, he married Neva (Betz) at the Haskins Community Church; she preceded him in death on July 11, 2019, after 43 years of marriage.

Leon was a 1950 graduate of the Whitehouse High School. He served in the US Army from 1952 to 1954 being stationed in Germany. Leon worked for many years at Borden Chemicals in Whitehouse. After retirement he worked at the OR’s Sunoco Gas Station in Haskins. Leon was a member of Haskins Community Church, the Middleton Township Fire Department, and served on the Middleton Township Board of Zoning Appeals. He loved gardening, hunting, fishing, and playing cards.

Leon is survived by his son Matthew (Hayley) Studer, his stepdaughter Sue Buchman, his stepson David Fretter, and his son in law Timothy Hammer, his grandchildren Heather (Jason) Hill, Daniele (Jacob) Seifert, Joanna (Andy) Brentlinger, Aaron (Jennifer) Fretter, Charlotte (Scott) Chancey, Elizabeth and Garret Hammer, Trey and Jaycie Studer, his great grandchildren Olivia and Jason Parker Hill, Maddox and Asher Seifert, Eddie and Henry Brentlinger, Gabe, Raphael and Angela Fretter, Jeanette Fretter, and Baker Hammer, his siblings Wilma (Raymond) Porter, Walter (Sharon) Studer, Alan (Sandra) Studer, sisters-in-law Kay Studer and Wilma Studer, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Sara Hammer, his stepson, Lee Fretter, son-in-law, Bill Buchman, and brothers Rolland, Leslie, John, and James Studer, and sister Norma Rarick.

Friends and family are invited to a visitation on Tuesday October 1 from 4 to 7 pm at the Peinert Dunn Funeral Home, 18620 Washington St. Tontogany, Ohio. Funeral services will be Wednesday 11 am at Haskins Community Church, 209 W. Main St. Haskins, Ohio, with Pastor Jennifer Jackson officiating. Burial will follow at the Highland Memory Gardens in Waterville, Ohio. Donations in Leon’s memory are encouraged to the Haskins Community Church.
