Lester Helberg, 64, of Bowling Green, Ohio, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2026, surrounded by the family he loved so deeply.
Lester was born on September 20, 1961, in Melbourne, Florida, to George and Mary Helberg. He was a beloved son, husband, brother, father, grandfather, and friend whose greatest joy in life was his family.
Lester was a true family man. He loved his children deeply and was especially proud of his grandchildren, who held an enormous piece of his heart. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Mary Helberg sons, Brandon Helberg and his wife Tabitha, and Jordan Helberg and his wife Jessica; and his daughter Megan Helberg.
His grandchildren, Spencer, Mackenzie, Scarlet, Ariel, Brandon Jr., and Mason, brought him endless happiness and countless reasons to smile. His love for them was evident in everything he did, and the memories he created with them will be treasured for generations to come.
Lester had a curious spirit and a love for the world around him. He enjoyed fishing, spending time outdoors, and capturing the beauty around him through his passion for photography. He was also a certified storm chaser, fascinated by the power and unpredictability of nature. Whether he was behind a camera, out on the water with a fishing pole, or watching the skies, Lester had a way of finding wonder in the world around him.
But above all of his hobbies and interests, Lester loved his family. They were his greatest accomplishment and his greatest joy. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, stories, photographs, and memories that will continue to live on through the people who knew and loved him.
Lester was preceded in death by his parents, George and Mary Helberg, and his brother, Kevin Helberg.
He is survived by his children and grandchildren, as well as his siblings, Rusty Helberg of Bowling Green, Robert Helberg of Dayton, Wanda Bomer of California, Jennifer Schroeder of Fostoria, and Stephanie Parsons of Fostoria, along with extended family and countless loved ones who will forever carry him in their hearts.
Though his absence leaves an unimaginable emptiness, his family finds comfort knowing that Lester was surrounded by those he loved most as he took his final breath. His love, his laughter, and the memories he gave his family will never be forgotten.
A Celebration of Lester’s Life will be held on September 20, 2026—his 65th birthday—from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Bloomdale Community Building, 404 S. Main Street, Bloomdale, Ohio 44817.
Family and friends are invited to come together to share stories, remember the life Lester lived, and celebrate the remarkable man he was.
Instead of simply marking the day he left this world, his family will gather on the day he was born to celebrate the life he gave them.
