Marie E Hoops

Marie E. Hoops of Bowling Green, OH passed away on Saturday, August 12, 2017.

She was born on December 3, 1932 in Henry County, Napoleon, Ohio to Theodore and Della (Prigge) Schuette. On June 28, 1953 she married Frederick Hoops in Napoleon, Ohio.  He preceded her in death in 2012.

Marie spent nearly 55 years working as a Paralegal with Spitler Huffman Law Offices before retiring in 2016.  She really enjoyed her job and made many lasting friendships with her co-workers and individuals she came in contact with in the Bowling Green business community.  She always took pride in doing her best each day.

She graduated from Florida High School near Napoleon, Ohio in 1951.

She attended Bowling Green State University and earned an Associates degree in Business Accounting with a GPA of 3.9 and then went on to the University of Toledo where she earned another Associates degree with a certification as a Paralegal.

Marie was active in many area organizations such as the American Cancer Society, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Relay for Life, Bowling Green Youth Hockey, and more recent the Bowling Green Women’s Group where she volunteered for many community projects, and her knitting group at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church which she looked forward to every Monday night.  She also volunteered at the Black Swamp Arts Festival the past several years.  She also enjoyed fitness classes such as Aerobics and could be found at the BG Community Center doing some kind of fitness.

She attended St. Mark’s Lutheran church regularly and enjoyed the fellowship with its members.

Marie was a caring human being who went out of her way to help others whenever possible.  A friend once told me “If we could all be like her the world would be a perfect place”.

She always looked forward to the holidays and birthdays when she could make her amazing homemade meals for her family and made you feel special whatever the occasion.   Family was important to her and she really liked spending time with her grandchildren Collin, Katie, Britton, Connor, and Matthew and her sons and relatives or anyone who wanted to stop by for dinner.

She also enjoyed going on many adventures with her sister Margaret and relatives to places like Frankenmuth Michigan, dances at The Bavarian House in Deshler Ohio, or just a nice lunch in Grand Rapids.  She was also planning a trip to Germany before her health did not allow her to travel.

Marie enjoyed working around her house and often could be found outside working in her flower gardens or trying to make her yard beautiful or even shoveling the snow off of the sidewalk in the winters.

She was greatly loved by her family and will be missed each and every day.

Marie is survived by her sons: David Hoops of Bowling Green, OH; Phil Hoops of Swanton, OH;  and Steve (Amy) Hoops of Milford, OH.  Grandchildren: Collin and Katie of Bowling Green, OH,
