Marx pleads guilty to sexual imposition

Justin Marx appears for arraignment in Wood County Common Pleas Court in October, 2021.

Former bar owner Justin Marx has pleaded guilty to a count of gross sexual imposition, a fourth degree felony.

Marx, 48, was charged with rape and sexual battery for offenses that occurred in January, 2021. If found guilty of those charges he faced more than 20 years in prison.

The sentencing on the reduced charge has been set for Nov. 21 in Common Pleas Court before Judge Molly Mack.

Marx was instructed to register as a Tier 1 sex offender.

The plea was made late last month.

According to court documents on the rape charge, Marx allegedly engaged in sexual conduct with a victim while knowing that person’s ability to resist or consent was substantially impaired.

Marx is founder of BG Beer Works, and operated it until last year.
