Mary Ruth Daman

Mary Ruth (Morgan) Daman of Pemberville, Ohio passed away peacefully on Friday, February 9, 2024 at The Gardens of St. Francis in Oregon. Mary was born on September 29, 1937 to Elwin and Ruth (Stose) Morgan. Mary received her Bachelors and Masters Degrees from Bowling Green State University. She was a member of Kappa Delta sorority where she met her husband Lloyd W. Daman. They were married on June 27, 1959 at Zoar Lutheran Church and celebrated 63 years of marriage. Once they moved to Pemberville they became lifelong members of Bethlehem Lutheran Church.

Mary taught elementary for 28 years. Twenty-six were at Eastwood Schools. She was a beloved teacher who went above and beyond for her students. Mary and Lloyd raised three sons all of whom they were extremely proud of their accomplishments. Once retired, Mary and Lloyd enjoyed traveling and were very involved with their five grandchildren. Mary was also so excited to welcome her first great granddaughter in July 2022 and continued to look forward to her visits.

Mary was an avid reader and also loved quilting and sewing. She taught her granddaughter to sew and also instilled the love of reading in all her grandchildren. Mary started the Quilting Eagles with a group of women that grew from 5 to 28 over the years. In addition, she initiated the Kid Quilt Project which provided quilts wrapped around a book for Eastwood preschoolers. This emphasized her love of quilting as well as the importance of reading at an early age.

Left to cherish her memory are children, Mike (Carol) Daman of Fort Wayne, IN and Jim (Terri) Daman of Perrysburg, OH. Grandchildren, Aubry, Cory, Troy, Nick, Josh and great-granddaughter Settie. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lloyd Daman and son Jeff Daman

The family would like to thank those who cared for Mary including The Gardens of St. Francis, Elara Caring Hospice, Jamie Weber and especially Sue Ann Rogers who over the past 5 years has been a blessing to the family. Sue Ann was always able to make Mary smile with her sense of humor and compassion.
