ODOT hosting job fair to fill year-round openings

The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 2 is hosting a job fair on Thursday, Oct. 21 from 2-7:30 p.m. at the district headquarters, 317 E. Poe Road, Bowling Green.

The district is looking to fill 10 full-time highway technician positions and an automotive mechanic position.

The current highway technician openings are:

4 positions at Wood County garage

4 positions at Northwood outpost

A position at Lucas County garage

A position at Henry County garage

The automotive mechanic position is at the Ottawa County garage.

Apicants should dress for the job because the job fair is a one-stop shop including: driver license check (must have CDL class B or A with tanker endorsement; application; job interview; physical abilities test; and reading comprehension and math test.

It’s highly recommended pplicants pre-apply at careers.ohio.gov so they can save time at the job fair.

Typically this time of year, ODOT hosts job fairs for seasonal employees who help primarily with snow and ice control. While seasonal employees are still welcome to apply and attend the job fair, the main purpose of the job fair is to fill the 11 full-time positions.

Highway technician applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent; a valid class A or B commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a tanker endorsement, without air brake restriction; and three months of training or experience in basic equipment operation.

Automotive mechanic applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent, and two years experience in automotive repair and maintenance of a variety of vehicles or equipment.
