Police respond to reports of catalytic converters being stolen

Two residents in the 700 block of Napoleon Road reported their cars’ catalytic converters being stolen to the Bowling Green Police Division.

The first was reported on Sunday, Feb. 9, after the owner of a Honda Element noticed the catalytic converter missing.

The second was reported on Thursday, Feb. 13. In that case, the owner of a Honda Accord noticed his car was very loud on Sunday, so he took it to a repair shop. The repair shop notified the owner that the catalytic converter was missing.

Police Lt. Dan Mancuso said that catalytic converters are the target of thefts because of the metals in them that can be resold.
