Sarah Bednarski takes over as university spokesperson

Sarah Bednarski has joined Bowling Green State University’s Marketing and Communications staff as the new director of marketing and communications and university spokesperson. Her first day was Feb. 20.

Bednarski comes to BGSU from Mercy Health, where she held several leadership roles in marketing and communications for the past 17 years. Most recently, she served as public relations director, leading a team of professionals across Ohio and Kentucky focused on communicating the health system’s strategy and expertise to both internal and external audiences.

In her new role at BGSU, Bednarski is responsible for leading the communications team in all internal communications and media/external communications for the University.

“Sarah’s leadership in strategic communications combined with her expertise in media relations and issues management is a strong addition to the University community,” said Dave Kielmeyer, chief marketing and communications officer. “I welcome Sarah back to BGSU.”

Bednarski holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from BGSU and is accredited in public relations through the Public Relations Society of America. She is a board member for Notre Dame Academy and a member of both the enrollment and advancement committees. Additionally, Bednarski is a member of the Student Media Board at the University.
