Wood County reports 680 new COVID cases, 5 deaths, 12 hospitalizations since Monday

Wood County has reported 680 new COVID cases, five more deaths, and 12 more hospitalizations since Monday, according to today’s report from the Wood County Health Department.

That brings the total for the county to 24,007 cases, 306 deaths, and 1,016 hospitalizations from COVID.

Wood County is seeing an average of 170 new COVID cases each day, and is now at 1,027 COVID cases per 100,000 residents, keeping the county in the high transmission range.

During the last two weeks, the 1,803 new COVID cases in the county broken down into ZIP Code areas show that all areas of the county are affected. The highest number of cases in the last two weeks were reported in Perrysburg, 649; Bowling Green, 422; Northwood, 148; Rossford, 98; North Baltimore, 71; Walbridge, 66; Millbury, 55; Pemberville, 34; Luckey, 34; Wayne, 29; Fostoria, 26; Weston, 25; Bradner, 20; Grand Rapids, 19; Haskins, 17; Risingsun, 15; Portage, 14; Bloomdale, 11; Rudolph, 11; Cygnet, 11; BGSU, 11; and Tontogany, 10.

Several schools in the county have reported recent cases of COVID. The report issued Jan. 6  gave an update of 62 student and 11 staff cases, including:

  • BG City Schools, 10 students, 5 staff.
  • Eastwood, 4 students, 2 staff.
  • Elmwood, 2 students, 0 staff.
  • Lake, 2 students, 1 staff.
  • North Baltimore, 2 students, 0 staff.
  • Northwood, 2 students, 0 staff.
  • Otsego, 2 students, 0 staff.
  • Penta, 9 students, 0 staff.
  • Perrysburg, 18 students, 3 staff.
  • Rossford, 11 students, 0 staff.

As of this week, the following long-term care facilities in Wood County reported new COVID cases:
