Betty J. Tompkins, age 74, of Pemberville and formerly of Luckey, OH, passed away on Saturday evening, May 7, 2016 at Otterbein Portage Valley Senior Lifestyle Community, Pemberville, OH. She was born on January 3, 1942 in Toledo, OH to Robert E. and Elsie M. (Geldien) Heebsh. Betty married Given E. Jordan on July 21, 1975 in Stony Ridge, OH and he preceded her in death on January 27, 1979. She then married Barney F. Tompkins on May 10, 1986 in Luckey, OH and he preceded her in death on January 15, 2012. She worked for and retired from B.G.S.U. in the housekeeping department after 28 years. She was very active with the Pythian Sisters, having been a member in Walbridge (now Toledo) as well as being a Past District Deputy from 1986 – 1998 and again from 2000 – 2002 and was also was a Past Grand Trustee of the Pythian Sisters of OH.
Betty is survived by her children Barney Tompkins of Maumee, OH; Laurie (Ron) Hardy of Plymouth, IN; Edward Jordan of Stony Ridge, OH as well as numerous grand and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, and husbands Given Jordan and Barney Tompkins.
Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 from 2-8 PM at the Marsh Funeral Home, 110 Main Street, Luckey, OH where funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at 11 AM. Officiating will be Rev. Dan Beaudoin. There will be a Pythian service conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday evening at 7:00 PM. Interment will be in Troy Township Cemetery, Luckey, OH. A bereavement luncheon will be served at Troy Webster American Legion Post # 240, Luckey, OH immediately following the cemetery committal services.
