John Meach

John Meach, 54, of Bowling Green passed away Tuesday November 22, 2016.

John was born in Bowling Green, Ohio to the late Orval and Florence (Mack) Meach. John is survived by his sisters: Robin (Dale) Digby of Bowling Green and Pat (Don) Stambaugh of Sharpsburg, Georgia; nieces and nephews: Robert (Heidi) Baumbarger, Heidi (Chris) Buck, Bryan Baumbarger, Andrea (Ralph) Baumbarger, Jill (Ray) Collins, Wendy (Ted) Fort, Doug (Denise) Stambaugh; and a host of loving great nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, John was preceded in death by his canine companion Penny Ann.

John was a graduate of Wood Lane Schools and loved attending and following the local high school sports teams, but especially the Otsego Knights. John was very active in the Special Olympics, where he competed in every event he could. He attend the Special Olympics not just locally but nationally to, with his favorite being in Vermont for the winter Olympics. While at Wood Lane, John work for Wood Lane Industries and was a member of the Boy Scout Group. John was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan. He enjoyed his Thursday night trips to Big Boy for spaghetti night and watching the Dukes of Hazards and listening to his favorite music, which was Queen and Kiss and singing “Jesus Loves Me” and “You are My Sunshine”. John was a member of the Hosanna Lutheran Church in Grand Rapids and was a very active and outgoing individual. He never met a stranger and his smile and personality was loved by all and even if you were having a bad day, John knew how to turn that around, even if it was just by his friendly greeting which was contagious to anyone he came in contact with.

Visitation for John will be held on Sunday November 27, 2016 from 1:00-3:00 PM in the Deck-Hanneman Funeral Home & Crematory, 1460 W. Wooster St., P.O Box 648, Bowling Green, Ohio 43402, where his Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday November 28, 2016 at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow in the Beaver Creek Cemetery, Grand Rapids. The family request that those attending wear their favorite sports team clothing.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wood Lane Residential Vacation fund, Bridge Hospice or the Wood County Humane Society.
