Children’s Resource Center Art Show features youths’ artwork Aug. 4

From CHILDREN’S RESOURCE CENTER

The Children’s Resource Center will showcase the artwork of their clients during the 4th Annual Art Show from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 4, at CRC, 1045 Klotz Road, Bowling Green.

The show will highlight the artwork created by youths in the Day Treatment Summer Group, which offers opportunities to participate in a variety of group activities that promote safe decision making, social and friendship skill-building, problem solving, conflict resolution, emotional regulation, and positive coping strategies. Art is often integrated into the activities to enhance the learning experience.

More than 100 youths between 7- and 18-years old attend group programming each week, and all have made multiple forms of artwork with clay, paint, crayons, watercolors, markers and other art supplies.

The chosen media is based on the leaders and clients’ interest, and how they want to share their feelings, self-expression and coping skill ideas. Some of the artwork is interactive, and there will also be a movie showing.

Snow cones and popcorn will be served during the show and there will be free raffles available for prizes such as Toledo Zoo tickets and a gift basket provided by NAMI Wood County. NAMI will also have a booth at the event, where NAMI staff will lead a coping skills activity for families to enjoy.
