Kids Day and Chamber Day on tap for Wednesday at the Wood County Fair

The Wood County Fair will welcome 27 area cheerleading teams to the grandstand Wednesday night at 6 p.m., ready to compete in what’s become an annual cheerleading contest. Other special activites and events on Wednesday include Chamber Day, hosted by the Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce in the Fred H. Pratt Pavilion conference room from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and STEAM Day, featuring Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math activities sponsored by Penta Career Center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.in the Free Tent.

WEDNESDAY, JULY 30

Kids/DARE/STEAM Day/Chamber Day

Rides:   Wednesday, noon to 11 p.m.; Kids Day Ride Wristband $15 on Wednesday from noon to 5 p.m.

Daily gate admission: $8

Daily Activities: Chainsaw Carver Shows, Sheriff Stretch, Axe Throwing, Ovation Circus Acts, Petting Zoo, and Shark, Sea Lion and Stingray Encounter

8 a.m. – Gates open

8:30 a.m. – Jr Fair poultry judging, Poultry Barn

9 a.m. – Jr. Fair horse ranch show, Horse Arena

10 a.m.-2 p.m. – Penta STEAM demo, Free Tent

10 a.m. – Jr. Fair beef showmanship, breeding and feeder show, Pavilion Show Arena

10 a.m.-4 p.m. – Chamber Investor Showcase, Pavilion Conference Room

Susan Dallape, a member of the Maumee Bay Country Quilters Guild, spent the day at the Wood County Fair Quilt Show demonstrating quilting techniques on her old Singer sewing machine. She started sewing at 12 years old and now spends time quilting for enjoyment.

Dancing was a theme on Tuesday. In addition to the Junior Fair Dance, a group of seniors were doing a line dance to the “Boot Scootin’ Boogie” during Senior Day at the fair.
