The Wood County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a two-vehicle crash which resulted in one fatality this morning (Aug. 6) east of Pemberville.
The crash occurred on Ohio 105, near Bradner Road, and involved a Chrysler Town & Country and a Honda Odyssey.
According to the sheriff’s office, the Chrysler was westbound when the driver attempted to pass another vehicle on a curve. The Honda was in the eastbound lane. Both drivers swerved to avoid the collision, but did so in the same direction and crashed.
The passenger in the Honda, Estuardo Ordoncz, 56, of Miami Springs, Florida, was pronounced dead at the scene. The operator of the Honda, Dirk Dorneich, 55, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, was taken to Toledo Hospital via Promedica Air Ambulance with non life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Chrysler, Alexander Cutcher, 26, of Gibsonburg, was taken to Bay Park Hospital, also with non life-threatening injuries.
Assisting on the scene were Pemberville-Freedom Fire and EMS, Wright’s Tire and Auto, and Frank’s Automotive.
The crash is still under investigation.
