Mildred M. “Millie” (Brockschmidt) Borcherding, age 100, of Luckey, OH passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 5, 2025 at Wood Haven Rehabilitation Center in Bowling Green, OH following a two-month illness.
She was born on August 22, 1924 in Gibsonburg, OH to the late Henry F. Brockschmidt and Odelia M. (Magrum) Brockschmidt. She married Denver Hagemeyer at age 18. He was killed in WWII. On May 20, 1946 she married Lowell F. Borcherding who passed suddenly on October 21, 1959.
Surviving Mildred are sons, James (Mona) Borcherding of Woodville, OH, John (Cindy) Borcherding of Queen Creek, AZ; daughter Elaine Strausbaugh of Bowling Green, OH; and son-in-law Oscar Sanchez of Luckey, OH. Grandchildren Kellie (Sam) Jacobs, Jodie (Andy) Friess, Angela (Rob) Adams, Matthew (Colt) Strausbaugh, Corrisa (Mike) Ruggerio, Jennifer Heyman, Jessica (Greg) Bryant, Jena (Luke) Riseborough, Michelle (Chris) Primm, Kyle Sanchez, and Jennifer (Greg) Gonzales. 23 Great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Odelia, 1st husband Denver Hagemeyer, 2nd husband Lowell “Butch” Borcherding, daughter Janet (Oscar) Sanchez; Companion of 20 years Billie Hines. Brothers Cletus, Bernard, and James Brockschmidt. Sisters Luella Chalfin, Alena (Penny) Flores, Agnes and Veatrice Brockschmidt.
Beginning at age 18 Millie cooked for many years at Vic’s Bar and Grill in Luckey, OH. Leaving there to become head cook at Otterbein Portage Valley where she stayed for over 47 years retiring at age 92.
She enjoyed gardening, cooking, crocheting, crafts, reading, game shows, sitting on her front porch, and most of all she loved spending time with her family.
Mildred was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Luckey, OH and their Ladies Crochet and Quilting Group. She was also a lifetime member of the American Legion Post# 240 Ladies Auxiliary, Luckey, OH.
Friends will be received 2-6 p.m., Sunday, August 10, 2025 at Marsh & Marsteller Funeral Home 4094 State Route 105, Pemberville, OH. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the funeral home 10 a.m., Monday, August 11, 2025. The family will receive guests from 9 a.m., until time of service. Officiating will be Pastor Brandi Bailie. Mildred will be laid to rest in Troy Township Cemetery Luckey, OH.
