George W. McGee, 73, of Bowling Green, Ohio passed away on Saturday October 4, 2025. He was born on January 24, 1952, to the late George and Helen (Redfairn) in Memphis, Tennessee. He married Carol Sharp on January 2, 1985, and she survives in Bowling Green, Ohio.
George was a 1970 graduate of Frayser High School and went on to study Voice at the University of Tennessee at Martin. A gifted musician, George’s passion for music was a defining part of his life. He played both the piano and the accordion, earning numerous awards for his accordion performances, including notable recognition at Opryland.
Throughout his musical journey, George was a member of several bands, including a prominent nine-piece group that traveled the country performing at military bases, bringing joy and entertainment to servicemen and women across the United States.
Beyond his love of music, George was a hardworking man who built a career as a forklift driver and laborer. He was known for his dedication, strong work ethic, and warm sense of humor. Above all, George valued his family.
Along with his beloved wife Carol, George is survived by his children, Nathan Rife of Bowling Green, Ohio, Brady (Tiffani) McGee of Indiana, Holly Parker of Bowling Green, Ohio, brother Gerald (Lori) McGee of Knoxville, Tennessee, sister Nelda (Howard) Witham of Mississippi and 8 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son Aaron Rife, son-in-law James Parker, and sister Myrna Joe.
A visitation for George will be held on Tuesday October 14, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Dunn Funeral Home located in the Historical District of Bowling Green, Ohio at 408 W. Wooster St. His memorial service will follow at 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Pastor Steve Bauerle will officiate.
