The smell of pancakes filled the air at the Pearl Street fire station on Saturday, Oct. 11. From 9 a.m. – noon the Bowling Green Fire Division held a sausage and pancake breakfast and open house. Children received their own fire helmets while adults could learn more about the fire division and the upcoming levy. The proposed levy would fund the building of two new fire stations.

There were also various demonstrations throughout the morning. There was a side-by-side fire demonstration that showed the difference fire sprinklers can make. Later, firefighters performed an extraction demonstration, using the “Jaws of Life.” Attendees could also spray the fire hose and learn about other firefighting and EMS equipment. Throughout the morning, children asked questions and took pictures with the firefighters.
