Ohio State Patrol investigating crash involving BG driver and train in Wood County

The Bowling Green Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a crash involving a Jeep Wrangler and a train in Wood County. The crash occurred today (Jan. 26) at approximately 1:34 p.m., on Carter Road, south of Reitz Road in Perrysburg Township.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a Jeep Wrangler, operated by Keith Breyfogle, 68, of Bowling Green, was traveling south on Carter Road when it failed to stop at a stop sign at the train tracks. 

The Jeep Wrangler reportedly entered into the path of, and was struck by, a Norfolk Southern train that was traveling northeast on the tracks.

Breyfogle was wearing his seatbelt and was not injured. There were two occupants on the train. Neither was injured.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by the Perrysburg Township Police Department, Perrysburg Township Fire and EMS, and Tommy Boy Towing.

Impairment is not believed to be a factor in the crash. This crash remains under investigation.
