From BOWLING GREEN CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
The Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce has announced the ribbon-cutting for Ben’s in Bowling Green. The official ceremony will take place on Wednesday, April 22, at 11 a.m., at 154 S. Main St.
Floyd and Charlotte Craft chose to settle in Bowling Green 50 years ago. Floyd opened their family business as “Ben Franklin’s” in 1976, in the location that was originally a Woolworth’s store. The Crafts eventually grew their family business when they opened Ace Hardware in 1987 and The Busy Thimble in 2010.
Floyd said, “how helpful the city of Bowling Green has always been to us and to business in general downtown. It has always worked better than any other community I’ve lived in.”
Amy Craft Ahrens, Floyd and Charlotte’s daughter, shared, “My dad has literally worked nearly every day over the past 50 years, working seven days a week, often coming in on holidays when the store is closed. He’s 89 now and still coming in every single day.”
The Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce invites the public to join in celebrating this event. People can RSVP now to secure a spot at https://www.bgchamber.net/rsvp/ or by calling the Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce office at 419-353-7945.
