After six months of planning and preparation, Bowling Green High School FFA successfully hosted its annual mini dance marathon, “Bobcat-a-thon,” raising $7,891.16 for Nationwide Children’s Hospital – Toledo. The 2026 superhero-themed event brought together BGHS students and BGSU Dance Marathon members for four hours of energy, teamwork, and philanthropy.

Bobcat-a-thon is a four-hour event where participants stand in solidarity for children who are hospitalized and unable to stand themselves. Throughout the event, dancers remain on their feet as a symbol of support for pediatric patients and their families. All proceeds from the event directly benefited Nationwide Children’s Hospital – Toledo.

The day was packed with activities designed to encourage teamwork and friendly competition. Students competed in a game of musical chairs, a dodgeball tournament, and participated in “jail,” where participants could “bail out” friends with donations. Attendees also enjoyed a bounce house, crafts table, Crumbl Cookie, and a raffle to close out the event. Dancers were divided into teams and competed throughout the day, earning raffle tickets as prizes for winning challenges. The overall fundraising total was revealed at the end of the four-hour marathon.

The event received generous support from many local businesses that contributed raffle items and monetary donations. Organizers extended their gratitude to all sponsors who helped make Bobcat-a-thon possible.

BG FFA also hosted several additional fundraisers throughout the year to contribute to the final total, including the annual BG FFA tailgate before a home football game, fundraising at a BGHS basketball game, and strawberry sales. Proceeds from all of these efforts went toward the amount revealed at Bobcat-a-thon.

Since 2004, the BG FFA has raised and donated more than $100,00 to Nationwide Children’s Hospital – Toledo – a milestone that reflects the organization’s long-standing commitment to service and community impact.

Looking ahead, organizers hope to make next year’s event even bigger and better in order to continue making a difference for children and families in need.
