From TRANSCENDENCE ARTIST COALITION
Nature is the theme of the Bowling Green Tiny Gallery for July. The gallery, a repurposed Little Library, sits near the back door of Grounds for Thought, 174 S. Main St.
The featured artists and their art for the month include:
- @ashley.dean.art, a mixed-media artist based in Findlay, is known for her vibrant, whimsical artwork that encourages people to pause, look closer and rediscover the wonder in even the most unexpected flora and fauna. Her triptych is in the upper right.
- Logan is a young, queer, multimedia artist in Bowling Green. Much of their art centers around mushrooms. View their painting upon a real mushroom and zoom in on the bottom right with the magnifying glass for details.
- @murakuma.gou is a hobbyist artist who loves traditional and digital art. Cassandra is passionate about characters and animals.
- @paint.by.abbey is a BGSU graduate with a BA in fine art and a minor in community arts. Abbey’s main focus is impressionistic landscapes, with an aim to capture the fleeting beauty of nature through rich, textured oil paintings. Her landscape is on the bottom right panel (center).
- @calcitecrane.bsky.social is a multimedia artist specializing in whimsy and color. Their painting and 3D works are viewable on the bottom left.
- @les_doodles has been doing shrinky dinks unprofessionally for four years after not being able to sleep one night and recalling the kindergarten craft. Zach’s frog magnet is on the top left panel.
- @bethanyrb.art is a local elementary art teacher and landscape painter who focuses on the textures and colors found in nature. View her mushroom painting on the bottom right panel of the gallery.
- @laurake.art is an art education student a BGSU whose focus is printmaking. She creates the paper she prints on and shows themes of sustainability in her work. Her butterfly is in the top left panel.
- Vicki Knauerhase’s work, which is inspired by picture books and illustrators, past and present, shows a scene from life. Her treehouse spool is viewable on the top floor of the gallery.
- Floy Shaffer, who was known for creating pottery throughout her 45-year career, won numerous local, regional, state and national awards, including the Smithsonian. Featured are Floy’s animal figurines, including a whale whistle that was donated by Shaffer’s daughter, Melissa.
- @starry_Charlieart is a Bowling Green multimedia artist who also writes fiction. Their piece is on the top left panel (left).
