Kevin P. Petz, 64, of Bowling Green passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2026.
Kevin was born on April 3, 1962, in Toledo, Ohio, to the late Rudolph and Josephine (Kelly) Petz.
While attending a Teen Night Dance at Dixie Electric Company, Kevin asked Yvette Marie Llanas to dance. After receiving her brother’s permission, the two shared their very first dance—a moment that marked the beginning of a special connection. They dated for several years before life led them in different directions. Nearly three decades later, fate brought them back together, and they were blessed to share 16 wonderful years filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Kevin is lovingly survived by his son, Devin Petz; Yvette’s children, whom he proudly loved and considered his own: Tony (Amanda) Hernandez, Alena Hernandez, Gavino (Jessy) Hernandez, and Nicolas Hernandez; his beloved grandchildren: Antonio, Aryana, Victoria, Gavino Jr., Ivan, Owen, Giovanni, and Marley; his siblings: Michael (Janice) Petz, Colleen (Tim) Voyles, John (Carole) Petz, and Teri (Rick Kaifas) Trimmer; host of nieces and nephews; his faithful canine companion, Stella; and his extended Llanas family, all of whom held a special place in his heart.
Kevin was a 1980 graduate of Whitmer High School. Kevin worked in the Insurance industry for many years. Kevin attended St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Bowling Green and was member of the Eagles #2180 of Bowling Green. Kevin was a very successful owner and operator of a Filter Queen dealership prior to obtaining employment in the insurance industry. He was a dynamic salesman. Kevin was truly one of a kind. His larger-than-life personality, quick wit, and unforgettable sense of humor made him someone people naturally gravitated toward. Good-hearted and always ready with a laugh, he loved pulling harmless pranks and keeping family and friends smiling. Kevin shared his love of music and he was a good friend, occasionally sang with the Nu-Tones, where his voice brought joy to many. He was a self-proclaimed pool shark, a football fanatic, and an unwavering Dallas Cowboys fan. He also had an incredible ear for music and was a wizard at “Name That Tune,” often amazing those around him with how quickly he could identify a song after only a few notes. Whether he was sharing a joke, singing a favorite tune, cheering on the Cowboys, or enjoying a game of pool, Kevin lived life with enthusiasm and left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him. Most of all, he will be remembered for his kind heart, infectious laughter, and the joy he brought into the lives of others.
Visitation will be on Thursday, July 16, 2026 from 10:00 AM until the time of Kevin’s Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM in St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 131 S. Summit St., Bowling Green, Ohio 43402, with Fr. Tom McQuillen, officiating. A Celebration of Life Gathering will follow at the Eagles #2180, 1163 N. Main St, Bowling Green.
