David Moon, age 76, passed away on Wednesday, October 14, 2026. He was born on December 31, 1949, in Toledo, Ohio, to the late Victor and Mary (Balmer) Moon.
David was a proud graduate of Whitmer High School. Following graduation, he answered the call to serve his country in the United States Navy, where he was stationed in Puerto Rico and worked as an Aircraft Mechanic. After completing his military
service, David went on to work as a job setter for the United Auto Workers Local 1435 at the Toledo Machine Plant for 40 years.
On August 27, 1970, David married the love of his life, Debra Moon, who preceded him in death in 2004. Their love story began at Lime Lake, a special place in Hudson, Michigan, that had been a cherished third-generation vacation destination for David’s
family. Lime Lake remained a meaningful place in his heart, filled with treasured memories of family, tradition, and the beginning of his life with Debra.
In their younger years, David and Debra shared a passion for roller skating and even competed in dance championships. Their time on the skating floor was a reflection of the joy they found in life and in each other.
David had many interests and hobbies throughout his life, including coin collecting, cars, guns, building model sailboats, creating beautiful stain glass pieces and ATV trips. As well as the Annual S.C.R.A.P Festival.
Above all, David cherished his family. The moments he spent with his loved ones meant more to him than anything else, especially the time he shared with his only grandchild, Brayden, who held a very special place in his heart.
David will be remembered for his service to his country, his many interests, the memories he created with his beloved wife, and the deep love he had for his family. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of sharing in his life.
David is survived by his son Brett (Theresa) Moon of Bowling Green, Ohio and grandson Brayden Moon of Bowling Green, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents and beloved wife Debra.
A visitation for David will be held on Tuesday October 20, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of his funeral service at 12:00 p.m. at Peinert-Dunn Funeral Home located at 6003 Providence St. Whitehouse, Ohio 43571. Interment will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park where military honors will be rendered by the AMVETS Honor Detail. Pastor Steve Bauerle will officiate.
