Lois May (Frontz) Wozniak passed away peacefully in her home on Thursday, July 28, 2016. She began her life in Port Clinton, Ohio on May 31, 1926 as the daughter of Frank Frontz and Nora (Carnicom), and became the bride of Edwin Wozniak in 1952. She grew up with older brothers Dearl and Paul Abbott and younger brother Franklin (Bud) Frontz. After graduation from Port Clinton High School Lois worked as a prisoner of war guard at Camp Perry, which enabled her to attend nursing training. She studied at WA Foote Memorial Hospital, Jackson, Michigan where she earned her Registered Nursing Degree. She later furthered her education, earning a Bachelor of Education Cum Laude in 1984. She worked at Magruder Hospital, Port Clinton, Ohio, and Toledo Hospital before beginning her 20+ year career at St Charles Hospital in Oregon, Ohio. As Patient Education Coordinator she played a significant role in developing the patient education program.
Following her retirement in 1988 Lois continued to contribute to her community as a member of Lakeside Federation Women’s Clubs Board, Friends of the Pemberville Library, Friends of Otterbein Portage Valley, Pemberville Freedom Township Historical Society, and Pemberville Mental Culture Club. She celebrated her many friendships through the Library Book Club, Bunco Club, CCL group, and Keep Moving swim group. In 2013 Pemberville honored Ed and Lois by naming them Senior King and Queen of the Pemberville Free Fair. For many years she and Ed enjoyed sharing the family cabin in northern Michigan and cottage on Put-in-Bay Island with family and friends. Lois was a member of St John XXIII Catholic Church.
She is loved, remembered and missed by husband: Edwin, children: Ed Jr. of East Aurora, NY, Kathy O’Loughlin of Norfolk, VA, and Dave of Greenfield, MA, grandchildren: Kenny, Tony, and Alex (Sandy) O’Loughlin and Anton Wozniak, sister-in-law: Ruthanna Frontz and the many who lovingly know her as Aunt Lois. She is preceded in death by brothers: Dearl Abbott, Paul Abbott, and Franklin Frontz.
Family and friends will be received on Monday, August 1, 2016 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Marsh Funeral Home, 4094 State Route 105, Pemberville, OH where funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at 11 AM. Officiating will be Father Herb Weber. Interment will be in Pemberville Cemetery, Pemberville, OH. A bereavement luncheon will be served at the Pemberville Freedom Twp. American Legion Post #183, Pemberville immediately following the cemetery committal services. Consideration for memorial contributions are to: St. John XXIII Building Fund, Hospice of Northwest Ohio or the charity of the donor’s choice.
