Bowling Green Mayor Mike Aspacher was elected as chair of the Toledo Metropolitan Area Council of Governments (TMACOG) on Friday at TMACOG’s 2023 General Assembly. Perrysburg Mayor Tom Mackin was elected as vice chair.
Aspacher was first elected as the chair of TMACOG in April 2022 and has been mayor of Bowling Green since 2020. Mackin has served on TMACOG’s Executive Committee and Board of Trustees.
“I look forward to continuing to participate in the spirit of collaboration that makes our region such a special place,” Aspacher said.
The pair was sworn in Friday by Ohio 6th District Appeals Judge Mark Pietrykowski. A former TMACOG chair himself, Pietrykowski plans to retire from the court next month and was presented with a proclamation recognizing his long record of public service to Northwest Ohio.
Also during the 2023 General Assembly, TMACOG members representing communities across the region caucused in groups and approved appointments to the Board of Trustees and representatives to various committees.
The program at the Hilton Garden Inn in Perrysburg included a panel presentation on the impact of electric vehicles on transportation logistics and the economy. Speakers included Preeti Choudhary, executive director of DriveOhio, and Jacob Schwemlein, director of Drive Electric Ohio.
The event was presented by The Mannik & Smith Group.
TMACOG is a non-partisan regional planning partnership made up of voluntary members in northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan.
