A Bowling Green woman was taken to Wood County Jail after she reportedly ran into a Bowling Green police cruiser, then left the scene Saturday around 2 a.m.
Olivia York, 25, was charged with hit-skip, failure to use caution for a stopped emergency vehicle, and having a blood alcohol content of 0.212.
Two police cruisers were handling a separate incident at Clough Street and South Enterprise Street, and were parked in the eastbound lane with emergency lights activated. A vehicle traveling eastbound reportedly struck the back of one of the cruisers, then drove on the sidewalk on the north side of the road.
The vehicle, driven by York, reportedly failed to stop after the crash and continued eastbound on Clough Street. The officer was outside the cruiser at the time of the crash and was not injured.
The other officer caught up to York’s vehicle at Clough Street and Manville Avenue. The officer reported smelling an alcohol odor coming from the stopped vehicle, with four passengers inside.
According to the police report, York had glassy eyes, poor fine motor skills, and slurred speech which was not understandable at times. When the officer asked the driver why she believed she was stopped, York reportedly said, “yeah, I kind of clipped you and your partner.”
After reportedly failing multiple field sobriety tests, the driver was taken to the police station, where she performed a breath test, which registered 0.212. Her driver’s license was confiscated.
