Local weather uneventful for Thanksgiving weekend; travelers heading northeast should be vigilant

Those  traveling locally or have loved ones traveling into our area, the current forecast for Wood County is shaping up to be fairly uneventful.

Dry conditions will likely continue through 5-6 p.m. this evening. After 6 p.m., light to locally moderate rain showers will develop and continue through 2-3 a.m. Thursday. Total rainfall tonight should remain under 0.20 inch, with the highest amounts expected in southern Wood County. Dry conditions return for the remainder of Thursday morning into Thursday afternoon. After 5-6 p.m. Thursday, some periodic, light snow showers may develop throughout the rest of Thursday night with snow showers gradually increasing in coverage by early Friday morning. Snowfall amounts will likely remain under 0.1 inch, but pavement temperatures are expected to be in the upper 30s, which would lead to some occasionally wet roadways if snowfall rates are a bit heavier with some showers.

Those  heading to the northeast, keep vigilant as they have an issued Winter Storm Watch for portions of Northeast Ohio and Northwest PA from Friday until Monday.
