Bowling Green Police arrested a Toledo man on Tuesday (11/26) evening after he allegedly stole an “unusual amount of adult sex toys of various types” and alcohol from stores on East Wooster Street.
Miguel Martinez, 34, was charged with two counts of theft and taken to Wood County Jail. He had just been released from the jail earlier in the day.
Police responded after receiving a call from a carryout in the 400 block of East Wooster Street about a “suspicious person.” When officers arrived on the scene, they saw a man matching the description run around to the back of the store, reportedly throwing objects into the yard. Police located the items, many being adult sex toys.
Officers also found Martinez had a trash bag of many items reportedly taken from the carryout and from a pharmacy located in the 200 block of East Wooster Street. Police took the items to the pharmacy where they were scanned, adding up to $670 of lighters, several adult sex toys, five Trojan condoms and clothing.
The staff at both stores reported that they confronted Martinez about stealing, and in both cases, he dropped what was in his hands and left. At the drugstore, he was reportedly seen in the “personal intimacy aisle,” with several items in his clothing. When confronted, he dropped the condoms in his hands, but reportedly left with the items hidden in his clothes.
