Sidney Alan Rister of Azalia, MI, raised in Waterville, OH, passed away peacefully in his sleep February, 7th 2017. He was born Sept. 18th, 1955 to Beatrice Arlene (Strayer) Rister and Bernard Andrew Rister in Bowling Green, OH. He was married to Elizabeth Arnold for 23 years.
He is survived by his daughter, Danielle Rister, sisters Janet, Mary Jo, Patricia, many nieces and nephews who saw him as a father figure, and many extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Dan and Bernard Jr.
He served in the US Navy for many years. He worked for the VA hospital system for over 30 years. While there he was a steward and an active member of the union. He enjoyed sailing and gardening in his free time. He was a hard worker, loving father, beloved uncle, loyal friend, and enjoyed making people smile.
There will be a grave side memorial held at 1pm on Thurs. Feb. 16th at Wakeman Cemetery in Waterville, OH. A celebration of life will be held from 2-5pm at the American Legion in Whitehouse, OH.
