Library invites readers to weigh in on top picture book of 2024

Books eligible for consideration for the Caldecott Medal on display in the Children's Place in the Wood County District Public Library.

From WOOD COUNTY DISTRICT PUBLIC LIBRARY

Readers of all ages are invited to the Wood County District Public Library’s Mock Caldecott program on Sunday, Jan. 26 at 2 p.m. at the Bowling Green Library Children’s Place.

Kathy East, retired WCDPL children’s librarian and two-time Caldecott Committee Member, will lead the discussion and describe the criteria for voting on the most distinguished picture book of the year. Everyone will be encouraged to join the conversation and participate in a Mock Caldecott to vote on their favorite 2024 published picture book.

The Caldecott Award, along with the other Youth Media Awards, will be announced by the American Library Association via livestream from the ALA LibLearnX Conference in Phoenix, Arizona. Everyone is invited to a watch party for the award announcements in The Children’s Place Interactive Learning Room at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 27.

Families can also see all of the books in the Mock Caldecott and vote on their 16 favorites at The Children’s Place now through the end of January.

No registration is required for any event. For more information, visit wcdpl.org/mock-caldecott.
