Alberto Buenrostro Garibay, 92, of Bowling Green, Ohio, passed away peacefully with family by his side on Sunday, December 29, 2024. Beloved husband of 70 years to Ana Maria Garibay; loving father of David Garibay (Shanita) and Maria Ramirez (Armando); cherished grandfather of Lourdes Cole (Brandon), Alexander Garibay and Marisa Ramirez; great-grandfather of Nico and Mila Cole; godfather and close friend to many.
Born in Jalisco, Mexico, Alberto bravely emigrated to the United States in 1956 with the love of his life, Ana Maria, and his young family. They made a home for themselves in Bowling Green, Ohio, where they lived happily for decades and became an integral part of the community. Alberto was a dedicated and hard-working family man who did everything he could to support his children and grandchildren. Over the years, Alberto cheered for them loudly at swim meets, proudly attended countless recitals, and helped his grandson with several Cub Scout competitions. After a long and successful career in manufacturing, he earned a happy retirement in Austin, Texas.
Alberto’s second love of his life was bowling, and he could often be found fine-tuning his game and playing in leagues with his wife and other close friends as he chased a perfect 300. He and Ana Maria loved to travel the world, especially via cruise ship. Alberto was an enthusiastic sports fan who always looked forward to supporting his favorite teams, the Detroit Tigers and Texas Longhorns.
Alberto is remembered as a passionate, kind and loving man with a generous heart. He prized his family above all else and was incredibly proud of the achievements of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Alberto could always be found with a smile on his face and a story to share, especially about his happiest memories with his beloved Ana Maria. His positive spirit was an inspiration to all who knew him. He will be deeply missed.
Alberto’s life will be celebrated in a private family service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Kind words and fond memories can be shared with the family on www.buschcares.com.
