Anastacia “Annie” Davila, 87, beloved Mother, Wife, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother passed away at 7:20 p.m. July 24, 2025 at Fox Run Nursing Home in Findlay, Ohio. She was born to Maria de la Luz (Lira) Guzman and Juan Guzman in Knippa, Texas on January 1, 1938.
Anne married Jesse Davila, Sr. on June 3, 1967 at high noon at St. Joseph’s Church in Erie, Mi. and they enjoyed 54 years of marriage together until his passing in 2022. Her children, Jesse (Lisa) Davila of Findlay, Natalie (Joe) Caricari of Douglasville, Georgia, and Jennifer (Ed Stretchbery) Miller of Bowling Green survive her. Annie’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her absolute pride and joy. Grandchildren Kaydence (Tre Moeckel) Davila, Elizabeth (Colton) Clark, Haley Brown, Matthew Audritsh, Malynn Haven, Jarod Haven, Bella Caricari, Nick Smith, Amanda (Nick) Rupp, Nick (Taylor) Miller, Jessica Miller, great-granddaughters, Saige Miller, Clover Rupp and great-grandson, Joshua “JD” Clark, survive her as well.
Coming from a large family, Annie’s brothers and sisters live in Ohio and Michigan. They are Maggie Miller, Al Guzman, Ray Guzman, John Guzman, and Cindy Guzman. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Manuel “Rod” Rodriguez, Jesusita “Susie” Castro, Joe Louis Guzman, Felix Guzman and Manuela “Nela” Rodriguez.
Annie’s caring spirit was honed early in her life as one of her first jobs was working in an orphanage in Monroe, Michigan. In 1964, Annie briefly acted as a Spanish Interpreter for the Migrant Workers Program for the Monroe County Health Department. After her marriage to Jesse and moving to Findlay, she started her career as a nurses’ aide at Manley Manor, eventually Heritage Manor, where she worked for 23 years until she retired in 1999. Her retirement meant that she could spend time golfing with Jesse or, more importantly, being present for their grandchildren at dance recitals, school plays, or sporting events. Annie and Jesse would do their best to never miss a soccer, football, or softball game because they enjoyed supporting the kids so much. She also taught the younger generation how to play dominoes and make tamales and tortillas because she wanted to pass along those traditions.
Annie also enjoyed traveling to different venues to hear her son’s gospel group, Jericho Road, sing and give glory to God. She was a gifted gardener and cared for her flower beds and vegetables well into her mid-80’s.
While Annie’s was very good at crocheting, her claim to fame was that she was an outstanding quilt maker. She began quilting in 1997 and created the most beautiful, intricate and colorful quilt patterns that she would often give to family and friends. It was well-known that any new baby coming into the family would receive a beautiful, one-of-a-kind quilt created by “Grandma D”.
While Annie will be missed here, she no longer has pain and can once again get up and walk through the Heavenly Gates to meet her Lord and Savior. Annie’s favorite color was red and she requested that anyone attending her visitation would honor her by wearing red on that day.
