April Fool’s can bring unwanted surprises – BG woman wanting ride home ends up in jail

A Bowling Green woman looking for a ride home on April Fools’ Day ended up with a ride to jail instead.

A Bowling Green Police officer was patrolling in the 200 block of South Main Street, Tuesday around 11 p.m., when a woman reportedly ran into the road and asked the officer to stop. She asked the officer for a ride home for herself and her friend.

The officer noted in the report that he normally would not provide rides to citizens, but due to the cold weather, he agreed. He asked the two women for their identification. When they were run through the system, it was found that one of the women had an active protection order against the other.

The women said the protection order had been dropped in January, however there was no record of that.

One of the women was charged with violation of a protection order and taken to Wood County Jail.
