BG Alleyway Committee seeking artists’ ideas for two mural projects

Dogleg Alley in downtown BG

From BOWLING GREEN ALLEYWAY COMMITTEE

The Bowling Green Alleyway Committee has started the process of creating mutals in Dogleg Alley, directly to the south of Finders Records, and in the alleyways and a connecting wall adjacent to City Lot #1.

The murals will each have a separate commission with more than one artist or group—up to two—selected. The goal of this project is beautification of pedestrian walkways.

The commission is seeking requests for quote by Nov. 1.

The RFQ must include:

 Proof of residence in one of the listed Northwest Ohio counties.

 Artist or group statement (250 words): Include a general introduction to your work and concepts.

 Resume: Outlining recent experience and accomplishments as an artist. If applying as a team each artist will submit a separate one-page resume.

The deadline for the design proposal from the finalists will be Jan. 1, 2025 with the announcement of the commission award made Feb. 1.

The mural installation must be completed by July 1.

Up to six finalists will be selected with a stipend of $400 provided to each artist, or artist team, to create a design for one of the two spaces available.

Two artists or artist teams will then be selected from the finalists to complete their mural design. Each artist or team will receive a commission for their work, details on commission and site descriptions are available on the RFQ.

The City of Bowling Green will clean (pressure wash) and prime each space to be painted and will seal each completed mural with a high-quality exterior varnish from Nova Color. All equipment and materials needed for the successful completion of the project are the responsibility of the artists.

Artists should send all materials as a single PDF document by Nov.  1to: Robin Gerrow, rsgerrow@gmail.com.
