BG Chamber of Commerce to host suicide prevention training, Tuesday, Sept. 16

From BOWLING GREEN CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

The Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce Business Council Project Team has announced a training opportunity on Tuesday, Sept. 16, from 8 – 10 a.m., at the BG Chamber of Commerce offices, 217 S. Church St.

The chamber will offer a special training session on “Suicide Prevention in the Workplace,” presented by Jason Hughes. This program is open to all chamber investors. The interactive training will feature videos, group discussions, hands-on exercises, and roleplays designed to deepen participants’ understanding of their role in suicide prevention.

The goal is that by the end of the session, attendees will:

  • Have increased knowledge about suicide prevention,
  • Feel more confident in discussing suicide and seeking help, and
  • Be more likely to apply what they’ve learned in real-life situations.

Chamber investors are encouraged to take a step toward creating safer, more supportive work environments.

Jason Hughes is the program manager and veteran liaison for the Ohio Suicide Prevention Foundation (OSPF). He manages the First Responder Question, Persuade, and Refer (WPR) Instructor Training grant, the Man Therapy Ohio campaign, the Workplace Prevention program, serves on the Suicide Prevention Plan for Ohio (2024-2026) implementation team, and co-leads the Ohio Governor’s Challenge Team, which aims to prevent suicide among service members, veterans, and their families (SMVF).
