BG Chamber offering solar eclipse information on its website

From BOWLING GREEN CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

The Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce has added  a Solar Eclipse Resource page on its website yesterday to help Investors prepare for the April 8, 2024 Solar Eclipse.

The webpage, which can be found at bgchamber.net/2024-solar-eclipse-resources, provides a one-stop-shop for businesses with planning questions relating to the eclipse.

“The vision of the Chamber is to provide a forum for keeping our businesses informed as well as address questions and collect additional suggestions,” said Mary Hinkleman, executive director of the Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce. “Each business will be impacted differently, so planning now for what to expect is key!”

The webpage will be a “living” page and will be continuously updated as we learn more information from our Investors and local business owners. The Chamber encourages your submissions through the digital form at the bottom of the page.

This form will be constantly monitored by Chamber staff and will help grow the wealth of information and resources available to Investors on this webpage, while also answering direct questions from Investors regarding the event.

Projections have the April 8 Eclipse lasting approximately four minutes, with Bowling Green resting in the path of totality. The Bowling Green area should expect a huge influx of those looking to experience the event, with Jeff Klein of the Wood County EMA projecting the population to triple for the event. His report expects 260,000 additional people to come to Wood County and a majority of them view Bowling Green and BGSU as a recognizable place to be for this memorable experience.

With so many people coming into the Bowling Green area for this event, businesses will certainly be impacted. The newly launched webpage seeks to provide a guide to business owners on how to best prepare and account for those impacts. Currently, there is information on direct impacts to different business sectors, what visitors will be looking for, and logistics considerations.

More information will be added based on questions and submissions on the webpage’s form, as well as when the Chamber learns of more pertinent information for their Investors.
