Dog lovers have an opportunity to show their appreciation for their own pooches — as well as support the development of a new dog park in Bowling Green — with a Feb. 26 Pet Portrait Party.
The event, to be held at Art A Site in downtown Bowling Green from 1 to 4 p.m., is being organized by volunteers with Citizens for BG Dog Parks.
Registration is required by Feb. 5. That’s in part to give organizers time to have participants submit photos of their dogs and then prepare canvases that have the dogs’ images sketched on ahead of time. Participants will then be painting on the canvases at the party.
The cost is $40. Money raised will help cover new dog park expenses.
“We’re so eager for Bowling Green folks to come together and celebrate their dogs and help support a new dog park,” said Jo Ascunce.
Visit BGDOGPARKS.ORG to sign up and then make the $40 payment. Only 24 spots will be available, so interested people should register soon.
As for the effort to include new dog parks in Bowling Green, planning is progressing. For more information, join the Citizens for BG Dog Parks Facebook group or visit the web page to be added to the mailing list.
