The City of Bowling Green was honored for its achievements throughout the past year during the 2023 American Municipal Power (AMP) Annual Conference.
The Bowling Green Electric Division was commended for its participation in AMP’s Mutual Aid Program in recognition of mutual aid assistance the city provided to the AMP member communities of the Village of Bloomdale, City of Coldwater and City of Wapakoneta as well as the public power community of the City of Springfield, Ill.
Mutual aid is one of the most important aspects of AMP membership, as it ensures that assistance is available when it is needed most.
“The importance of mutual aid in our industry cannot be overstated, and I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all the Members that took part in our response efforts this past year,” said Michelle Palmer, AMP vice president of technical services and compliance.
In addition, Brian O’Connell, director of public infrastructure and director of utilities for the City of Bowling Green, was elected vice chair of the AMP Board of Trustees. O’Connell has represented Bowling Green on the AMP Board of Trustees since June 2011.
The AMP Annual Conference took place Sept. 25–27 in Columbus. The organization’s premier event featured presentations and panel discussions by industry experts and speakers from AMP partner organizations.
