BG FFA raises $1,104 during annual tailgate event for Nationwide Children’s Hospital

BG High School Principal Dan Black gets dunked as part of the tailgate festivities hosted by the BG FFA with proceeds benefiting Nationwide Children's Hospital in Toledo.

The Bowling Green FFA Chapter kicked off the year with their annual tailgate before the Bowling Green vs. Sylvania Northview football game. It was a rainy night for the event but that didn’t stop it from being a great success, raising $1104.87 for Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Toledo.

Before the game, the night consisted of a dunk tank with Bowling Green City Schools teachers and staff. The staff who volunteered for the dunk tank were Daniel Black, Patrick Carney, Michel Bechstein, Kenneth Hale, Josiah Rupp, and Matthew McEwen. The FFA appreciates them making a splash to help the chapter raise money for Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Toledo.

In addition, guests were also able to enjoy inflatable activities such as an obstacle course, slide and a bounce house. Thanks to the donation by Belleville Meat Market, the BG FFA Chapter was able to provide free food for the attendees during the event. Face painting was provided as well.

As the first quarter of the football game came to an end, the FFA Chapter along with the help of the BGHS Spirit Squad completed a “miracle” 2nd quarter. FFA and Spirit Squad members ran through the stands to collect spare change and money as a final push for donations to the hospital. This along with donations from the tailgate itself allowed the chapter to raise over $1000.

A grand total of money raised at tailgate, along with other events throughout the year, benefiting Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Toledo, will be announced at the Bobcat-A-Thon event in February.
