Bowling Green Fire Division responded to a grain dryer fire at Mid-Wood, on East Gypsy Lane Road, this morning around 7:10.
The fire was confined to a small section of the grain dryer, which Bowling Green Fire Lt. Tony Zmarzly described as silo-shaped and standing about 50 to 60 feet tall.
“I believe one of the employees at the gas station noticed it on fire,” he said.
The fire was located about half way up the structure, he said. An estimated couple tons of corn had to be emptied to reach the charred corn, Zmarzly said.
Center Township Fire Department assisted BG Fire Division on the scene. There were no injuries from the fire, and firefighters remained on the scene about one and a half hours.
