BG high school and middle school campus deemed safe after gas line leak repaired

The gas line issue on the Bowling Green High School and Middle School campus has been fully repaired, and authorities have confirmed that it is safe to return to campus. The school district canceled classes today after the gas line break was discovered.

Behind the scenes, many staff members worked quickly and thoughtfully to keep students and families safe, according to Superintendent Ted Haselman. Staff directed parents as they arrived for student drop-off, while others safely evacuated students who were already on campus to the football field, contacted families, and ensured students were returned home.

The district transportation team worked to get secondary students home safely, and custodial staff at the high school acted promptly to turn off the gas line within the buildings.

Haselman expressed appreciation to the first responders, utility crews, construction partners, and district staff for their quick and coordinated efforts to ensure the safety of our students and staff.

“We are grateful for the support of our Bowling Green community and look forward to welcoming everyone back to school tomorrow,” Haselman said.
