BG Kiwanis Club continues to support BG City Schools

BG Kiwanis members and BGCS staff help unload school supplies.

In honor of the 100th anniversary of the Bowling Green Kiwanis Club which occurred Dec. 23, 1920, Kiwanians are continuing their support of the Bowling Green Community, even during the pandemic.

In February, the Bowling Green Kiwanis Club sponsored a community wide sock drive. This month, the club completed its annual Daffodils for Kids Fundraiser and with the support of the community, was able to sell more daffodils than ever before. A portion of those bouquets sold were donated to sick individuals or homebound senior citizens.

The Board of Directors approved a $500 donation to Bowling Green City Schools in support of needed school supplies and other necessary personal hygiene items. The Kiwanis Club also applied for a grant through the Ohio District Kiwanis Foundation and was awarded $1,000 to help the cause. This total of $1500 will be in addition to a school supply and hygiene product collection that the 120-member club has conducted.

The Bowling Green Kiwanis club has also shown its support of high school students at Bowling Green High School and Eastwood High School with $9000 in scholarships for graduating seniors.

Bowling Green Superintendent Francis Scruci accepts check and supplies from BG Kiwanians Dana Nemeth and Scott Regan.

The $1,500 and collected supplies were delivered today to the school administration offices.

The Bowling Green Kiwanis Club currently meets every Thursday via zoom with social time beginning at 11 a.m. and the meeting starting at 11:30 a.m. If you are interested in attending a meeting or would like more information about joining the club, please send an email to secretary@kiwanisbg.org.
