A Bowling Green man reportedly discharged a gun into a neighboring apartment, putting multiple holes in the walls and a graduation gown. Brandon Person, 21, was charged with discharging a weapon in city limits and tampering with evidence after he allegedly hid the 9mm handgun in a cereal box in his apartment.
Bowling Green Police were called Sunday afternoon to an apartment in the 2000 block of Napoleon Road, after a resident noticed several holes in her bedroom walls and closet doors. Her gown for BGSU graduation, hanging on the closet door, also had a bullet hole through it.
Police found a hole in the closet, where the bullet entered from the neighboring apartment. The bullet went through the interior closet wall, passed through the exterior closet wall and into the bedroom. The bullet then passed through the open door of her second closet and into the far wall of the bedroom.
Person, who was not home at the time police were called, later came to the police station. He reportedly admitted to accidentally firing his pistol in his apartment, possibly back on April 12. Person said after discharging the gun he ran to the apartment next door and knocked on the door, but no one answered.
Person also reportedly told police he put the handgun in a cereal box in a kitchen cabinet in his apartment. He reportedly gave consent for the officer still on the scene to enter his residence and take possession of the handgun.
Police asked about the entry bullet hole in his apartment, and Person allegedly said he had already filled in the hole with spackle.
