Bowling Green Police arrested a man Sunday morning for domestic violence and unlawful restraint.
Thomas David Miles, 21, of the 700 block of Eighth Street, was taken to Wood County Jail.
Police received a call around 9:30 a.m. about a disturbance between a man and woman, with the man back inside the residence breaking things. Upon arrival, the police spoke with two women who lived in residence with Miles.
One of the women said she heard the other yell “get off of me” from a bedroom. The woman in the bedroom said Miles would not let her leave the house when she said she wanted to go see her mother. She told police that she is pregnant, and he tackled her to the bed in a bear hug style and squeezed her very hard while screaming in her face.
With the help of the other woman, the victim said she was able to get away, and her small niece and nephew who she was babysitting got into the car.
When they left the home, Miles reportedly started messaging his victim to say he was harming himself. The roommate said she had seen Miles punch himself in the past and tell the victim that he would call police to say she hit him.
Police went inside to speak with Miles, who was locked in the bedroom. When police asked him what happened, Miles reportedly said that he did not think the woman had a reason to leave, so he did not want her to. According to the police report, he said the two of them are a couple, and should be doing things together.
Miles denied assaulting the woman, but said that she hit him.
Police charged Miles and took him to jail.
