A Bowling Green man was arrested for two counts of domestic violence after he reportedly fled the scene and was chased by Wood County Sheriff’s deputies after the car he was driving ran out of gas.
Bowling Green Police received a call about a domestic violence incident involving Bryant Gray, 41, on Wednesday (May 21) at 5:45 p.m., in the 1000 block of Mourning Dove Lane.
When police arrived, they found one person with redness and swelling to his lower lip, blood near his chin, and a rip in the neck of his sweatshirt. According to this person, Gray was upset because he was denied taking another family member’s purse to buy cigars.
A scuffle ensued in the garage, with Gray also reportedly pushing the woman trying to retrieve her purse, causing her to fall. Police noted the woman uses a walker for mobility.
Around 7:30 p.m., Gray reportedly called his family to say he had run out of gas near Huffman and Amos roads, which don’t intersect.
About 20 minutes later, Wood County Sheriff’s deputies located the vehicle and Gray in a driveway in the 12000 block of Amos Road, southeast of Bowling Green. When the BGPD officer arrived at the scene, he saw the deputies chasing Gray through the backyard of residences, then one tackling him to the ground.
He was transported to Wood County Jail.
