The Bowling Green Manor has cut the ribbon on its 13,000-square-foot “Therapy Neighborhood”addition.
The new area houses 12 rooms — some of which share a bathroom and a wall, — a dining and lounge area, a kitchen, and a gym. It connects to the original building’s long-term care through a hallway by the kitchen.
Director of Rehab Nick Heimrich said the therapy gym allows more in-depth therapy to ensure patients are ready to leave by the end of their stay. With the larger space, they hope to serve more outpatients — people who are not staying as residents.
BG Manor plans to open the Therapy Neighborhood in August or September, after it receivescertification from the Ohio Department of Health, Administrator Brooke Harrison said.
Ideas to update the existing building were being made before COVID, Harrison said. The Manor was built 45 years ago and due for an addition, but the pandemic pushed plans back.
“We’re really excited to have this new space for our residents. We’ve been due for an upgrade, and now we can give our residents more fully functional spaces to utilize,” Harrison said.
Renovations to the front of the building are also underway. They are adding an office space, residential area, and conference room.
