BG Parks & Recreation to host ‘Halloweekend of Fun’

The City of Bowling Green Parks and Recreation Department welcomes all little goblins and ghouls for its 2025 Halloweekend of Fun. Families can enjoy a weekend of activities celebrating the spooky and playful in the parks Oct. 24 – 26. Each session is free to the public; no registration is required.

Events:

  • Frightful Friday family pumpkin scavenger hunt: Oct. 24, 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.
    • The community is invited to grab their flashlights and favorite costumes to take a walk in Wintergarden Nature Preserve. People can explore the 3/4 mile trail while searching for fun-themed pumpkins scattered along the path and enjoy some sweet treats along the way.
    • Participants can drop in at any time during the event, but note that there will be no trail departures after 7:30 p.m.
  • Rocktober Saturday family Nerf & game night: Oct. 25, 5:30 – 7 p.m.
    • The community is invited to “level up” at the BG Community Center for the second annual Rocktober family Nerf and game night event. People can dress up and enjoy Nerf wars in the gymnasium, games in the Play Zone room, and music.
    • All Nerf equipment and protective eyewear are provided. Participants will not be allowed to play without the proper eyewear, and outside Nerf items or darts are prohibited. Unaccompanied adults, teens, or minors will not be permitted.
  • Sunday Funday Needle Hall-o-ween crafts: Oct. 26, 3 – 5 p.m.
    • The community is invited to get spooky and crafty at Needle Hall in City Park. There will be free Halloween-themed family arts and crafts provided. Participants can make lollipop ghosts, jack-o-lantern potato stamps, paper bag monsters, hidden ghost Halloween paintings, Q-Tip skeletons, handprint spiders, and fingerprint bats.
